Germany · Packaging EPR
For businesses based outside Germany that sell packaged products directly to German end customers. Learn about LUCID registration and appointing a representative. Service in preparation.
The requirement
The process
The producer keeps control of its own LUCID registration. The representative takes on the other applicable packaging EPR duties once the appointment is effective.
We review your business location, sales route, packaging types and available volume information.
We agree a written German-language appointment. You enter the representative in your LUCID account; the representative confirms it.
The representative coordinates system participation and packaging volume reports according to the applicable requirements.
What the role involves
German law places ongoing packaging EPR duties on the authorised representative. The exact work depends on the packaging and the seller’s activity.
The foreign producer must create and update its own LUCID registration. Official registration and reporting through LUCID are free; service fees and system participation costs are separate. Source ↗

Unternehmen ohne Niederlassung in Deutschland, die verpackte Waren oder leere Verpackungen direkt an Endverbraucher in Deutschland verkaufen, müssen einen Bevollmächtigten benennen. Die eigene Registrierung im Verpackungsregister LUCID bleibt Aufgabe des Unternehmens. Weitere Informationen bietet die Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister.
